DJ GerreG Saves 25 Dogs from Death<\/strong> \u2013 through parties & music<\/strong><\/em> \u2013 A DJ who doesn't just ensure full dance floors, but saves lives:<\/p>\n

What initially sounds unusual has long been a reality for the North German artist DJ GerreG. Last year alone, he was able to save 25 dogs from so-called kill shelters \u2013 financed by his performances, his music, and the support of his community.<\/p>\n

But behind this number lies a truth<\/strong>, that many people don't want to see.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A reality many repress<\/h3>\n

What's behind this number is really not a pretty story.
It's a brutal reality that many don't want to see \u2013 or consciously suppress \u2013 right in the middle of Europe.<\/p>\n

In several European countries, dogs are housed in state-run shelters.
Animal welfare organizations such as Four paws<\/a>, the German Animal Welfare Federation<\/a> or PETA<\/a> have been criticizing for years that animals are euthanized there after a certain period if they are not adopted \u2013 a practice that is partly co-financed by public funds.<\/p>\n

A particularly frequently cited example is Romania:
There, the so-called Dog Act of 2013<\/a> the killing of dogs after a deadline in state facilities.<\/p>\n

Scared. Hopeful. And often without a chance.<\/h3>\n

Thousands of dogs are held in so-called holding stations \u2013 often referred to as killing stations \u2013 abroad. In the middle of Europe.
Scared. Abandoned. Hopeful.<\/p>\n

You are looking for eye contact. Closeness. Affection.
You wag your tail when someone walks by.
You hope \u2013 until the last moment.
\nUntil someone comes.
Until someone sees them.<\/p>\n

And then, for many, their lives end right there.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dogs that nobody adopts, nobody sees, nobody rescues, have little chance.
After a few days (usually only 14 days), their time is up.<\/p>\n

Then their lives often end agonizingly<\/strong> \u2013 not infrequently under conditions that are unimaginable for us humans and only extremely difficult to bear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These animals are treated as if they are a problem to be \u201esolved.\u201c Not as living beings. Not as sentient beings.<\/p>\n

DJ GerreG: \u201eI've seen videos that have deeply shaken me.\".
Animals treated in such \u201erescue stations\u201c as if they were trash \u2013 and disposed of in trash bags, often after being tortured to death.
These images are unforgettable. They burn themselves into your mind \u2013 and they change you.\u201c<\/p>\n

For DJ GerreG, this is unbearable.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

From DJ to the voice for those who have none<\/h3>\n

What many don't know:
The North German DJ GerreG doesn't just use his music for parties<\/strong> \u2013 but to save lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last year alone, he was able to rescue 25 dogs from exactly these kinds of situations.
25 lives that would have otherwise had no chance.<\/p>\n

Funded by performances, music, and support from people who no longer want to look away.<\/p>\n

Everyone can help \u2013 and it costs less than many think<\/h3>\n

A sponsorship for rescue costs around 200 to 250 Euros.
This finances transportation, medical care, and all necessary steps.<\/p>\n

A comparatively small amount that determines whether a dog lives or dies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201eIf I can make it as a solo DJ, then everyone can help at least one animal<\/strong>.
You don't have to save the world. But for this one animal, it is the whole world.\u201c<\/p>\n

Five rescued dogs who get to live today<\/h3>\n

Engagement that goes far beyond music<\/h2>\n

But DJ GerreG's commitment doesn't end with the 25 rescued dogs.<\/p>\n

A special place in my heart is the Animal Welfare Hope e.V. \u2013 The Smeura<\/span><\/span><\/a> \u2013 the largest animal shelter in the world with approximately 6,000 rescued dogs. Particularly noteworthy: This animal shelter was built directly in front of a kill shelter, to make a statement precisely where countless animals\u2019 hope once ended.<\/p>\n

In addition, DJ GerreG regularly supports other organizations that work worldwide for animals and people. These include, among others, the Four Paws \u2013 Foundation for the Protection of Animals<\/span><\/span>, which is internationally committed to the protection of domestic, farm, and wild animals, as well as the World Animal Protection Society Inc.<\/span><\/span><\/a>, which operates in more than 20 countries and provides much-needed aid to animals. The organization is also supported by WWF Germany<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Social projects for people are also close to his heart. Among other things, support is provided for Little Hearts Hanover Inc.<\/span><\/span><\/a>, Light for the world<\/span><\/span><\/a>, the Children's Hospice St. Mary's Bridge in Hamburg<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0and Children's Laughter e.V.<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n
