Creation & production of the song
The idea for „Ein Glas zu viel“ arose after an actually beautiful birthday celebration. An evening full of music, good mood and happy people was suddenly overshadowed by an incident involving too much alcohol. An experience that left me thinking and ultimately gave the impetus for this song.
From the very beginning it was clear that „One Glass Too Many“ was not going to be a sad song or a sobering anti-alcohol anthem. Instead, the idea arose to look at the subject from a positive perspective. Celebrating, singing, dancing, and laughing are among the beautiful things in life – and it was precisely this joy that should also be the focus of the music.
The song was therefore produced as a cheerful, catchy one. Songs with disco-foxy elements. A danceable production, a message that is easy to understand, and a refrain that quickly sticks in the ear consciously form a positive counterpoint to the more serious background of the story.
In terms of text, „One Glass Too Many“ also largely omits dramatic imagery. Instead, it focuses on the joy of life, friendship, and knowing one’s own limits. Only the bridge is allowed to become a little more explicit with a wink of the eye, and it conveys the message in a humorous way.
So a moment of reflection became a cheerful song with a simple message:
